How to get to our Los Altos store

Stantola.gif (71007 bytes)This is the overview map, showing the direct route from Stanford to our Los Altos store, heading straight down Junipero Serra, which becomes Foothill Expressway after Page Mill Road.  This is virtually flat, by the way, and about 8.5 miles or so.   After you spend your book money at our store (and you could buy a pretty nice bike with the book money for just one or two classes with what books cost these days!!!), you can either return the same way, or you can take the more scenic route through the foothills, as shown on the detail sections below.

For the scenic, more challenging return route, you head back up Foothill Expressway to Loyola Drive(#3 on the overview map), heading west (left) on an overpass.   Loyola ends at Fairway Drive, (#4) where you make a right hand turn.  Fairway meanders along a golf course (naturally enough!) and then begins to head back towards Foothill...you will be making a left turn onto Hillview, which takes you to Magdalena Road (#5, and a major thoroughfare), where you head right (east) just one block and then make a left turn onto Summerhill (#6).   This features rolling terrain (popular for training your sprinting techniques!) and ends at El Monte (#7), another major street, where you make a left turn (heading west again).  El Monte crosses under the 280 freeway and shortly makes a hard right turn (#8) and becomes Elena Road.  Elena meanders around a bit and heads back under 280 again, where you will make an immediate right turn onto Purissima, another favorite with cyclists.

stantoladetail2.gif (16479 bytes)Watch out for the unexpected stop sign near the baseball fields!  The police do ticket cyclists for running stop signs, and this one seems to come out of nowhere.

Continue on Purissima until you get to Arastradero Road (#9), where you will turn right (east).  Head down Arastradero and make a left onto Hillview (the street name isn't indicated on the map, but it's #10).  Hillview connects you back up to Foothill, and then it's right back up Foothill and home!
